Written by Jackson: Snoring Father and Sleepy Son

Hi everyone. This is Jackson. Today we woke up sleep-deprived due to Dad's obnoxious snoring. However, I was still ready to have a more intense hike with him without Mom, as her foot blisters hurt her whenever she walks. She dropped us off at  the Savage Alpine Trail starting point at around 10:30.

(Michelle's note: 30 seconds after I dropped the boys off, I saw a grizzy on the side of the road again. Not good considering there is no cell service to warn them. Mother of the year award! Yikes.  Back to Jackson.)
Dad and I walked up a mountain, across a ridge, and back down another mountain, covering 1500 vertical feet across 4 miles in various weather conditions. The hike up was steep, but fun enough. At the top of the 2-foot-wide ridge was a hurricane-like wind. When I jumped in the air, wind blew me almost a foot over. Very scary, but fun nonetheless.
We saw beautiful scenery, but not many animals, except adorable little ground squirrels. They beg for food, but we didn't feed them because the Park Service wants to keep animals wild and independent of humans. The way down was even steeper, but had rocks in the way to act as stairs.

As we approached the ending point of the trail we could spy on mom resting in the car through our binoculars. Glad to see her enjoying the park *cough cough.* We finished the trail in around 2.5 hours and headed to 49th State Brewery where we got burgers and fish and chips and [root] beer. Delicious. We are now driving to Fairbanks, our last stop.
