Chris Guest Blogger! First female finisher of the Iditarod: Our Second Day in Fairbanks

I am getting lazy at this point in the trip, so Chris was nice enough to share the day in his words...We started day 14 with a wonderful and very personal tour of the life of "musher"/dog sledder Mary Shields--the first woman to complete the Iditarod Race in 1974. She showed us her beautiful gardens, introduced us to her five sled dogs and gave us lots of cuddle time, then she told us about her life and experiences in her house, at her dinner table, over home made cookies that she made that morning! This is a must do experience in Fairbanks.
Play the video of us howling with the dogs!

We then visited the UAF Museum of the North.

We arrived early to an awesome dinner at The Pump House and met some locals who were kind enough to buy a round of cocktails and tell us about how awesome it is to live here. Great dinner, then home made ice cream at Hot Licks to celebrate National Ice Cream Day.
